Investing in wedding stationery comes with an overwhelming amount of options. From save the dates to ceremony programs and thank you cards, there’s a lot to keep track of. My free, printable stationery checklist will guide you through managing all of your paper goods before, during and after your ceremony.
Before the Wedding
Prior to the big day, there are four primary pieces of stationery that will be sent out to guests. Your save the dates, wedding invitations, bridal shower and rehearsal dinner invitations - typically in that order. Some couples opt to skip the save the dates or send rehearsal dinner information to selected guests with the invitation. Your options are somewhat flexible, the invitation is a must. Be sure to decide which is best for your timeline as well as your budget.
Pro tip: Stay organized by selecting or designing these at least six to nine months ahead of when you’ll need them.
Day of Wedding
The day of your wedding is where I will expand on your invitation suite. Depending on your needs and tastes, this may include a welcome sign, table numbers, menus, a vow keepsake, a ceremony backdrop and even activity books.
Pro tip: Make sure everything is in hand prior to the big day by selecting or designing these items approximately one month in advance. The more time the better, but in this instance some items won’t be able to be finalized until you have your final guest count.
After the Wedding
There are so many good tips for keeping track of who needs thank you cards for what, but what you must remember is that these should be delivered to guests within one to two months after your wedding.
Pro tip: I typically recommend ordering these ahead of time with your other stationery items. This way you can have them on hand as soon as you get back from your honeymoon! However, some couples like to include a wedding photo on their thank you cards. Please allow two weeks for design and printing for this custom option.
If you’re wondering when you’ll need to order and send out each of these items, visit our blog about When to Order Wedding Stationery, which covers the timelines for the items listed above.
Pro tip: If you’re a Spring 2020 bride, those invitations need to be in the mail by January/February. Not sure what you’re looking for yet? Our online shop is full of semi-customizable design options to fit any style or aesthetic.
