Tropical aesthetic meets contemporary details with today’s featured couple, Jessica and Blake. The duo from Laguna Niguel, California wanted to incorporate vibrant plumerias and beachy details, but without going overboard on the luau vibes.
Jessica and Blake’s wedding took place in Hawaii on the island of Maui at Merriman’s Kapalua, with their reception to follow. Their evening reception was exclusively intimate, with approximately 20 guests, and no bridal party.
Their bijou ceremony still required your standard invitation suite: Invitation, RSVP Card, Outer Envelopes and RSVP envelopes. All together I assembled about 20 invitation suites. Smaller ceremonies and elopements are growing increasingly popular with todays’ brides, and we love to see that many couples still embrace quality paper goods as an inherent part of their wedding experience.
To match their self-described simplicity, Jessica and Blake opted for a calm, neutral color palette for their invitations. The off-white and gray invitation suite featured romantic script headings, and custom graphics and envelope liners. The outer envelope featured a painterly pink plumeria floral liner, which was complemented by a palm tree details/insert card.
What we loved most about this custom invitation suite was the tropical vibe. Many of my clients request floral, neutral or a bit of sparkle, so it was quite fun to work on something quite different. Though the design had plenty of elegant detail, it also had a distinct romantic, beachy vibe.
My husband and I honeymooned in Maui, so the experience working on this suite offered a bit of nostalgia for me as well, which I loved. These intimate details and experiences allow for a more authentic, bonded relationship between my clients and I. And I really love the one-on-one connection.
The couple’s ceremony might have been a small beach-side affair, but we were able to go big on the details. And the design wasn’t just a favorite of mine.
