Custom watercolor wash, island maps and monogram details, need we say more? Courtney and JB’s wedding stationery combined their classic taste with tropical destination vibes.
Courtney first connected with me after pinning some of my work on Pinterest a while back, favoriting an Ireland-themed stationery suite featured on Glamour and Grace. Once she was ready to order her invitations and save-the-dates, she said she knew it would be from Ivory House Creative. I could tell right away that we would have a great connection - and boy was I right!
Once we started the design process, Courtney shared that her and JB would be getting married in St. Thomas in July. We consulted over Google Chat where we pulled some font inspiration from the Catherine Suite and brainstormed potential upgrades.
After selecting the styles, colors, and font styles, I got started on the design. Together we created customized save the dates, and an invitation suite that included the invitation, reply card, custom map, details card and envelopes. She also selected my popular white ink addressing upgrade with envelope liners. The invitations were designed and assembled with a bellyband and monogram tag for the perfect finishing touch. To complete the look for the reception Courtney decided to expand her stationery suite. We worked together to create venue signage, a seating chart, thank you cards, hotel welcome cards, and menus.
To guide guests through their island experience we incorporated a custom watercolor wash/texture and custom map design (inspired by the styled shoot mentioned above) into all of their stationery pieces. I loved using the watercolor texture to give that ocean vibe, and the added monogram detail really elevated the customization of the suite. To balance the vibrancy of the floral envelope liner and watercolor details, we paired everything with navy, khaki, and white accents. A little bit of classic paired with that vibrant island flair.
What I loved most about designing this stationery suite (in addition to the stunning upgrades) was its functionality; each of the paper goods served a significant purpose for guests. From landmarks to where to find the resort, the customized map helped guide attendees to the various destinations they would visit on the island of St. Thomas. And let’s face it anytime I get to create a map, I get really excited!
