Today we’re talking gold, glamour and grace.
This month’s featured couple is Kylie and Elijah, a lively and fun-loving couple from Dallas, Texas, who opted for modern yet elegant wedding vibe. Their color palette was navy with gold metallic details; their style a totally unique blend of conventional and contemporary. Kylie and Elijah’s custom wedding invitations made the perfect first impression for their winter wedding in Grapevine, Texas.
We first connected after the couple found me online via Wedding Chicks from one of our past styled shoot features. Kylie and Elijah were a breeze to work with - Kylie’s father was in the printing industry, so the bride had quite a bit of knowledge about the available paper and printing options. This couple’s invitation suite was all about the details: scripted font and confetti detailing with gold foil finish and coordinating envelope addressing. We even created a schedule of events with custom illustrations for the back of their ceremony program.
In contrast to their bold, modern style, the couple opted for a fairly traditional ceremony which emphasized their love and religion respectively. Consistent with their traditional ceremony were customary details on the invitations including the parents presenting the bride. The couple also requested a coordinating monogram, which can be seen on their envelopes and programs.
One of the most striking details of this custom invitation suite was the gold foil accents on the script and confetti details. I always love a good foil pressed invitation, but it’s not always in the budget for my clients. I also love that we used a paper color other than white. White or ivory is pretty standard, and no doubt lovely, but it’s always fun to change it up a bit.
To complete their invitation suite with a modern twist, the RSVP cards requested guests to submit their attendance confirmation via the couple’s wedding website, hosted through The Knot. Wedding websites are a great way to cut expenses and waste (visit my past blog post for more details), while keeping guest tracking more simplified. They are also the perfect place to house all of those extra details that you might not have room for in the invitation suite.
With a combination of traditional values and modern details, these invitations, much like Kylie and Elijah’s love, will stand the test of time.
